  • Course Description:

The Principles of Microbial Taxonomy course is presenting the fundamental taxonomy and microbial diversity in which the history of the development of taxonomy as a scientific discipline is overviewed.

  • Course Main Objective:
    1. To introduce the principles related to microbial classification, nomenclature, and diversity of microorganisms.
    2. To explain the concept of prokaryotic and eukaryotic species and taxonomical hierarchy are introduced.
    3.  To discuss principles of traditional and molecular taxonomic approaches and associated techniques and methods in which an explanation of criteria for the selection of the most suitable taxonomic techniques for individual groups of microorganisms is discussed.
