  • Course Description:

    This course is designed to introduce an overview of the impact of plants on human lives economically, and to allow students to appreciate not only the botanical view of cultivated plants, their structure and evolution but also the relevance of these aspects to the economies of countries.

     

  • Course Main Objective:

    By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Describe the relationship between plants and the economy of a region.
  2.  Summarize the major groups of plants that have revolutionized societies.
  3. Analyze the reasons which led to the wide cultivation of only a few plants from the thousands that are known.
  4. Describe the current trends in the use of plants in the food and drug industry.
