About Microbiology:

The field of Microbiology is one of the most demanding disciplines worldwide evidenced by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) also witnessed the unprecedented demands of qualified graduates in Microbiology from both the Health sector and Biological research. Several employment opportunities for Microbiology graduates are available like; industrial, governmental, hospital, research center, private laboratories and agencies.

About the program:

The Microbiology program offers a modern basic science that studies microorganisms and their activities. It is focused on Microbes and their form, structure, reproduction, physiology and identification. It is also concerned with their distribution in nature and their relationship with each other and with the environment and with other living things. It includes their beneficial and harmful effects on both living and non-living matters. Under the umbrella of the Faculty of Sciences, Department of Biological Sciences, the Microbiology program provides a conducive academic environment for its students with state-of-the-art specialized labs, such central lab, Bacteriology and Mycology. In addition to the support units such as electronic – microscope unit scientific museums (Biological Museum).

Preparing a distinguished graduate with scientific background and personal and community skills, and providing a pioneering and sustainable educational and research environment.

PEO-1: Demonstrate leadership skills in the workplace and function professionally in their field of specialty to maintain sustainable development of Saudi society.

PEO-2: Successfully engage in life-long learning and demonstrate the capability of adapt rapidly.

PEO-3: Engage in professional development and/or graduate studies to pursue flexible career paths amid future technological changes.
